Tom Knight & the Blue Moon

Reviews

Tim Carr and Veronica Vazquez, wedding June 2003

To anyone looking for a wedding band to hire, we highly recommend Tom Knight and the Blue Moon. We hired the Blue Moon to play at our wedding reception in June 2003, and we couldn't have been more pleased with their performance. The venue was outdoors under a large tent with about 200 guests. We checked out a lot of bands in the Ithaca area, and the Blue Moon stood out for a number of reasons. One was that they were completely receptive to our wishes regarding the music (when, how long, how loud, what sort of mix, etc.). We didn't find this with other bands - for example, some were a bit pushy that there be a dinner set, which we didn't want. Also, we were particularly concerned that the music not be overpowering so that people could easily talk, at least in the far end of the tent, and the band did well honoring that request. All dealings with them were completely smooth and professional (showing up on time, well dressed, and so on).

As far as the music, they put together some fantastic sets with songs appealing to everyone from the little kids to the retirees, which is exactly what we'd hoped for. The instrumentals and harmonies were tight and the quality of the music exceptional. They lived up to or surpassed the tracks we heard on their web page (http://www.tomknight.com/songlist.html). For our wedding they played without amplification, except for the singer – Tom Knight, and it was an outstanding sound. Many, many of the guests commented about what a great band they were - "Where did you find these guys? They're fantastic!" "That's the first time my husband's danced in years!" "The singer has a great voice, I just enjoyed listening to them." And many more comments like this. The guests had a great time with the band, and there were constantly people of all ages dancing, so they read the mood of the crowd well. And perhaps most importantly, the bride’s parents were so pleased with the performance that they were happy to pay! Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Ann Dunham Rawson, wedding July 24th, 2004

I just wanted to drop you this note to let you know what a great job Tom Knight and the Blue Moon did at our wedding in July.  All our guests still rave about the wonderful band we had at our wedding.  The only regret that we have is that we didn't book them for one more set, the guests were having such a great time they would not leave.

Tom is very easy to work with and accommodating.  We had a few last minute changes and they were no problem for the band.

We are very pleased with our choice and if we had it to do all over again we would definately choose Tom Knight and the Blue Moon as our wedding band.

Ann Dunham Rawson

What a wonderful band!! Our guests and staff could not have been happier with your performance at our annual black tie dinner - "Celebrating
Bucknell." Thank you so much for staying an additional hour. Everyone was
thrilled with the selection and wonderful variety of music the band played.
Other departments on campus have asked for your phone number and e-mail. I certainly hope we'll see you again!

I can't tell you how many people complimented me on the music and asked "Who ARE these guys?" Some of them even thought I must have "imported" you from the city for the occasion!
Choosing a band to play for our wedding based solely on demo tapes was a nerve-wracking thing to do, but I was glad that we trusted what we heard on yours. From the very first song, I could see people's toes tapping, and the
beat didn't let up all evening. The mix of music turned out to be just perfect for the age range of our guests (I have to admit I was a little worried that my new mother-in-law might dance herself into the emergency room!), and your low-key approach (no "emceeing") was exactly what we were looking for. Such a relief!
And your gallant attempt at "Waltzing Matilda" turned out to be the perfect end to a magical night -- I don't think I'll ever forget leaving the tent with my new husband and looking back at the twinkling lights, hearing my friends and loved ones serenading us off to bed.

Reviews from those who attended a dance at Cornell
Your band is terrific! And your tunes are an awesome mix for dancing!!  All else aside, it was one of the most FUN dances ever!! -Howard

Friday was the first time we heard your group play, you guys were great. It was so nice to be able to dance to my favorite rock and roll music as well as a bit of swing and some west coast thrown in. It was also real nice when you slowed it down and we could snuggle a bit on the dance floor. It was great fun, we look forward to dancing the night away with your band in the days ahead.   - John and Barbara

I had a wonderful time at the dance on Friday. You guys did a great job on some of my favorite tunes, especially "In The Midnight Hour," "Honeysuckle Rose," and many others. The vocal harmonies were great, too. I loved the mix of 50's rock and roll with early swing numbers.

I've always loved your band. The addition of some of my favorite songs to your repertoire is fantastic!

Great variety! You guys have a solid selection of danceable tunes at all speeds. We lindyheads thank you! Keep swinging!
